I

The Covenant of Presence

AI will never replace the human obligation to be present with another human in moments that matter.

Applies to Any AI system evaluating, supervising, or managing human interactions where emotional presence or relational quality are material to the outcome.

II

The Covenant of Judgment

AI will never make an irreversible decision about a human being without human judgment reviewing that decision.

Applies to Hiring, termination, performance evaluation affecting compensation, credit and lending decisions, and any decision that is difficult or impossible to reverse once made.

III

The Covenant of Dignity

AI will never reduce a human being to a score, a metric, or a data point without context, nuance, and the possibility of being understood as a whole person.

Applies to Any AI system that evaluates, ranks, or scores individual human beings — including hiring systems, performance management, customer scoring, and credit assessment.

IV

The Covenant of Growth

We will not hold humans to a standard of consistency that we do not also demand of the AI systems evaluating them.

Applies to Any AI system that evaluates human performance against consistency standards — recognizing that human variability is often evidence of judgment, not error.

V

The Covenant of Transparency

Every human affected by an AI decision has the right to know that AI was involved, what criteria it used, and how to seek human review.

Applies to Any AI system that materially shapes a decision affecting an individual human being — regardless of whether a human being also participated in the process.

VI

The Covenant of Wisdom

Experiential wisdom — knowledge that comes only from living, failing, recovering, and growing — will always be valued above pattern recognition in decisions about human potential.

Applies to Any AI system used to assess, select, or evaluate human beings based on their history, trajectory, or potential. Pattern match can inform. It shall not determine.

VII

The Covenant of Accountability

When AI causes harm to a human being, a human being is accountable for that harm — not the algorithm, not the vendor, not the system.

Applies to Every AI deployment in every domain. This is the foundational covenant — the one that gives all others their force. Without accountability, governance is theater. With it, governance is real.

A covenant without evidence is a statement of intent.
With evidence, it is a governance commitment.
